a beacon perhaps, this is just 2AA batts with a led, total cost $1.5. possibility of message ont eh outside
alternatively, the light could not be diffused, and because the led if directional, we could suspend a figure in front of it by wire and make a shadow,
anyway, just a thought. its kinda like ambient graffiti though, not very statement like.
we could epoxy a foam disc onto the inside of the cup with the batteries and led set up, and then stick it high on teh wall of alleys or something.
i can really see it on the way to the croft etc.

I like it. Maybe if it was kinda badge size/shape. Little a little glowing message we could stick to things. Your idea really gets alot more impact per LED as aposed to the LED throwies which relie on there being a swarm of the things. Proply the way to go since throwies are looking expensive. Still, i do like the aesthetic of a massive swarm of coloured lights... Anyway, lets give it a try. Maybe we come even do something in shop class? Bruce does want us to make a whole heap of one shape....

i used the cups because they are cheap and easy to come by. plus they give a nice ambience. what other diffuser could we use?

we could vac form a whole bunch of shapes in tech, or possibly use solid sand blasted plastic?

i guess, and i reckon that'd be great for your workshop project. i'm a bit over vac forming just cos, i dunno, i'm keen to learn new processes. i was thinking we could learn something new, or use soemthing which is already existing. even ping pong balls if we get smaller packaging. what about getting an iconic bottle like a coke bottle spray it white to make a diffuser and mounting it high up on the alley wall with epoxy. it would alomost be like advertising.
i dunno.
what if we incorporated a switcha nd took some down to the caves?
what about lining a plastic bag with a resin to stiffen it.
if we are installing it outside it needs to be waterproof.

how bout some kind of sticky gel/silicon stuff? Like 'gak' or something. So we can just sling it at walls... I agree that vac forming is hell of boring. What over process are there we still have to learn?

mm i like the idea of a gel or gack. though would it stick outside and would it interfere with the electronics. you can make natural gak out of psyllium husks and water.
i guess i want to learn fibreglassing this semester, and we are still to learn metal milling etc, as well as more things with metal. this led thing is good, might give me a chance to learn more electronics. like could we just chuck a switch in the circuit and it'd work?

Flashing lights might be cool. I think the circuity for that is pretty simple. i remember making a flashing light at highschool once, but iv no idea how we did it...
