pissed off

so, what?
we get an email for technology and electives, with no mention of who these subjects are relevant for. this was days in advance of the balloting time.
but then we get an email about the upper pool studio (which consists of half of the course, or should do when concerned with the credit points) and we get one days notice about the presentations and then another days to ballot! hard luck for anyone who doesnt check their emails for 2 days or doesnt exist for the 18th, and is in transit for the most of the 17th and 19th.
i hate to think i need to be spoonfed, but itd be great to get a bit more notice, and at the top of each email to be notified who the actual email is directed at! i think its assumed that we know when we do each part of the course-i now know we do electives in 3rd and 4th! would ahve been some help to have it mentioned at the top of the email. or maybe the emails could be sent out to those who it is relevant for.
sorry for the rant, just pissed off i missed the deadline and may get a studio im not happy with. whinge whinge whinge.

I am sure it will all be fine, I agree time was a bit short for the studios, I only knew beforehand as I kept on checking the blog, but when your overseas on holiday I doubt you would be keeping track of blogs. RMIT isn't the most organised of places for giving dates and times which is annoying. If you don't like your studio I’ll help you protest and we can set fire to all the lectures offices.

thanks haley. i'm only having a whinge. they are halfway between being prudently organised and disastrously disorganised, especially when it comes to deadlines. i cant see how they can place so much emphasis on studio and then give us 2 days to decide (let alone 1 days notice that the studio explaining lectures will be on.)
i dunno, its all for nothing really. i cant expect to get what i'd like anyway.

everything is learner centered now. direct your own learning. check you emails and blogs daily because you WILL miss out on important stuff. things change every day here. you should not need to be spoon fed lol. wat are you, 4?

i've been checking the blogs/email everyday over the holidays, waiting for something on the studios and electives so that i may decide which would be the best path for me to take. maybe you should get a little more serious.

all of this is just constructive critism by the way and should be taken fairly light heartedly lol. good luck gettin ur studio =)

yeh, i dont expect to be spoonfed. just informed of important decisions with enough time to give them some thought.

i think 'learner centred' is the wrong way of describing balloting for your subjects. i thought learner centred describes how you want to learn within the subject, not how you choose which subject to do, thats plain organisation.

i was overseas, checking my email every day, second day, and sometimes not for a week, just because i didnt have the access. so to find an email on the 17th, directing em towards the blogs, and letting me know there was an information day the next day (18th), and then i had to ballot teh next day (19th) is too short notice, in my opinion.

Its confusing that they put so much emphasis on how important the studios are, and so much effort into writing the descriptions up on the internet (which i appreciate), but then fall apart by telling students about the information a day before they have to decide.

and while i'm havign yet another rant, i think tis pure sense to send emails only to people which the email is relevant to. if the email is sent to all industrial design students then at least stipulate which students need to take action (information days, balloting etc) and those for whom it is useful information about future courses. I misunderstood the 3rd and 4th year electives to be studio, due to the interchanging of both terms.

i think to accuse me of not taking this seriously is unreasonable.
