Speaking of Sets, i went and saw the Rock Esstedford Challenge on Monday and although most of thier sets weren't fantastic I did set a few that were quite impresive through the use of a simple backdrops that helped the costumes stand right out and therefore made the overall show effective. So maybe a Simplistic Set is something to consider for this, even though traditionally the sets for productions of singing in the rain are elaborate and the backdrops are often quite busy, which in my personal experience this can move the audiences attention away from the charcter on stage, which can ultimately ruin the show if it occurs to often through out. So for the sets to ultimately succed they need to be, although something that could potentially stand alone, something that melds with the rest of the show to create the suspension of disbelief in the audiences mind.
