carrot on a string

i had my mums side of the family over the other night, and my uncle is a scientist. apparently they were having a discussion about the nutritional value of vegetables when they were steamed, boiled, microwaved or eaten raw. the vegetable which was used an example was the carrot. They were discussing the miniscule values of vitamins, minerals and fibre changes which the carrot would undergo in the different environments. the main point of the discussion was to figure out the most nutritional way to eat the carrots, and, if one had a carrot how should one cook it as to get the most nutrition out of it. so, the essence of the conversation was practical, and not theoretical.
there were two sides to tho conversation, that the carrot was better steamed or microwaved, when my dad suggested that if anyone was that concerned about the amount of vitamins and minerals they would consume then perhaps the most foolproof way to ensure this, was simply to eat an extra carrot.
